EarlySpark Institute is where your journey in early education begins. Our paid, in-person teacher training program prepares you to work with children ages 0–5. In six months, you’ll gain classroom experience, complete coursework, and earn your Child Development Associate (CDA) credential—with support every step of the way.
No prior experience needed—just your commitment to learn and grow.
What is Early Education?
Ages 0-5 are the most important years in a child’s development. Early educators are skilled teachers of children 0-5 who provide high-quality education in a classroom setting.

Izzi Early Education has provided early care and education for over 40 years. Our experienced program staff will help you through every step of the training program.

At EarlySpark Institute we understand the importance of diversity and language in early education. That’s why we offer instruction in English, Spanish, Mandarin, and Cantonese. We are committed to helping bilingual and monolingual participants succeed.

Career Next Steps
With a Child Development Associate CDA credential, you will be prepared to work in an early education classroom. EarlySpark Institute helps graduates find full-time jobs in childcare centers through San Mateo County and supports further education through our partnership with EDvance College to pursue a bachelor’s degree.
Program Requirements
Permission to work in the US / I-9 documentation
Pass a background check
Commit to full-time hours (estimated 6 months program)
Have a high school diploma or GED
Live in San Mateo County
Commit to work in San Mateo County for at least a year

Some English fluency is preferred for students to be placed at local sites upon program completion.

Pending availability, EarlySpark Institute students will be placed at local San Mateo County centers that have openings. There is no guarantee of a placement at Izzi Early Education.

Yes. You will need to have reliable transportation.

No. A computer will be provided during Coursework. You do need to have general knowledge of how to use a computer.

No. We welcome anyone with a commitment to learn and a passion for helping young children.

The program is free.

Upon completion you will earn your Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and obtain your Associate Teacher Permit which allows you to work as an assistant teacher or family care provider in early education. You can also continue your education by pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Studies through our partnership with EDvance College.

The program is full-time, Monday - Friday. Participants are paid a weekly stipend.

Participants earn $750/week during Coursework and $20/hr while completing Internship Hours.

A Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential is administered by the Council for Professional Recognition and qualifies you to become an assistant teacher.
